Feasibility Study into the Establishment of a National Institute for Career Leadership
The 2002 OECD Review of Career Guidance Policies suggested that Australia “explore the possibility of establishing an independent Foundation or Council … to bring together the interests of the profession and of relevant stakeholder groups and act as a focal point for strategic thinking and innovation in the career guidance field.”

In March 2005, the former Minister for Education, Science and Training (now DEEWR), the Hon. Dr Brendan Nelson MP, announced funding for a feasibility study into establishing a national institute for leadership in career development that would provide a strong national focus for initiatives that improve the breadth, capacity and quality of career development and provide a focal point for strategic thinking, research and innovation in the field.
Allen Consulting Group were contracted by DEST to undertake this work. The completed study is now available.
