When the Career Training Scheme and the Reds were recruiting for a new Career Advisor mid last year, they wanted a person with a high work ethic, well networked within the careers and business sector, and a person who would take the CTS to a new level of professionalism. Naomi has successfully achieved this and more during her 18 months in the role. Her extremely high levels of commitment and professionalism have allowed her to take the Scheme to a new level where is well integrated within the players group, the Reds Service Team as well as the QRU as an organisation.

Reds Head Coach
I have known Naomi Lawrence since January 2006.
Naomi is the Careers and Training Advisor at Queensland Reds. The Reds have quite a young and immature playing staff. Naomi's role in the organisation to help guide these young players off the field is enormously important.
She is extremely dedicated to her job. Naomi goes "beyond the call" to ensure that the players have appropriate education programs or access to post-rugby career opportunities.
Naomi has a good rapport with the players. She makes every effort to get to know the players well. Naomi also helps outside her portfolio - counselling staff on a range of life issues and supporting in team projects, Naomi is always eager to help.
Naomi is always keen to improve herself, she is a dedicated professional who would be an asset for any organisation.

"I am pleased to be able to offer a sincere testimonial to support the excellent professional relationship that I have developed with Naomi Lawrence through her work with RUPA and the Queensland Reds. As a former elite athlete myself but now in the role of encouraging this same group of high achievers to pursue educational opportunities, I've seen the impact that Naomi has had on her clients. There are two things that I consider really important when working in this field: the most important quality is a genuine concern for client welfare and outcomes, borne out of a sense of real enthusiasm and zest for the job. The second criteria is to understand that each person is a unique individual with different buttons that need to be pushed."

"Naomi's enthusiatic and professional attitude has greatly helped me in pursuing possible career paths post professional sport. Her dedication and extensive experience in career pathway options has motivated me into undertaking tertiary study in Business and Education as a plan "B" career in Property Development and Construction. She also identified and introduced appropriate memberships (UDIA) which has proved to be outstanding in networking outside of my sport. Naomi is easy to talk to, always available and ready to listen as well as provide valuable information and advice. I am grateful for her knowledge and understanding in working with elite athletes and the valuable link she provides in the corporate world."

"I was fortunate to have Naomi Lawrence as a careers advisor during the final year of my rugby playing career. I found Naomi to be extremely professional and dedicated in her position and her support was invaluable. She helped me evaluate and understand my own situation and the options that were available and more suitable to me. Her enthusiasm and encouragement helped me to make some tough decisions about a career change that I had been contemplating for some time. There was no issue with regard to career management or training that Naomi was not able to provide advice and assistance with in a meaningful and beneficial way."

Also her long term career planning philosophy and strategies has already got me thinking of how best to position myself to take advantage of any future career opportunities that may eventuate.
